OVIDI ADLERT

Ovidi Adlert (Valencia, Spain, 1980) is one of the latest artists breaking charts and dancefloors all over the world. With electronic music being part of his life since an early age, while he grew and started going out the underage clubbing sessions of venues like Metropolis and, once he was an adult, places as A.C.T.V, Spook, El Torero or Chocolate, the influence of DJs as Jorge Zamora, José Conca, Luna City Express or the firsts days of Umek and Joseph Capriati left a mark on him, nurturing his repertoire.

Adlert would get his first turntables back in 1996, learning how to play at home, on his own. With the change of the millennia, around 2000, he managed to make himself a known name in the Valencian electronic scene, especially with performances at the venues that saw him grow, as Spook or Puzzle. Some years later he would manage to settle one of his careers highlights: becoming resident of Lou, one of Valencia’s most important after-hours sites. He gave the venue a character of its own, taking charge of programing the acts every weekend. After some years, his relationship with Lou ended, although it left a profound mark and gave him invaluable experience, providing Ovidi’s with a unique view on how to dominate dancefloors.

At the same time, Ovidi started to develop his skills as music creator, beginning his studies of musical production, which granted him important knowledge that would help him to dominate the intricacies of Ableton afterwards. Managing to edit his first EP in 2008, it was the turning point for Adlert, after which different renowned collectives and DJs started playing his tracks, getting to be heard at venues as iconic as Space Ibiza.

In this line, and thanks to one of his mentors, his love story with Darkside Digital Records (division of Click On Music) began: a platform he manages since 2008, making it a solid output, capable of giving opportunities to other talented artists. He also plays his part in Street Groove, another imprint he runs along two other partners.

The life of Ovidi Adlert has been driven by steadiness and hard work since the first stages. Thanks to his musical productions, he managed to draw the attention of certain Canadian DJ collective, that wanted him as remixer. Adlert saw the chance of opening his own path in a new market and got booked for some dates in the North American country. Although his first visit to Canada wasn’t completely as he expected due to bureaucratic issues, this opportunity opened the doors of venues such as Footwoork, Comfort Zone or The River Gambler (all in Toronto, Canada) as well as some Boat Parties, later on. Besides his Canada appearances, Adlert has performed in Spain’s best clubs and venues: elrow (Barcelona), Florida 135 (Fraga), Spook and Hotel 82 (Valencia), Revival (Alicante), Under Club (Madrid) or Mediterránea Festival (Almería), among others.

As far as Ovidi’s sound is concerned, he always tries to express in his tracks the same feelings he captures when he DJs: a sound with British influences, hip-hop vocals, loaded with samples and effects and clearly shaped by the 90’s sounds, with fun but solid and danceable vocals. Among his long lists of works, we find hits as ‘1996 Visions’ (Kaluki), ‘Technical Problems’ (Material Vinyl), ‘Night Invaders’ (Darkside) or the most recent ‘Wicked’ (Cr2 Records), ‘After Heroes’ (Street Groove) or ‘90’s Movement’ (Underground Audio). Thanks to his mind set as producer, he’s gained the support of artists such as Richy Ahmed, Patrick Topping or Jamie Jones, people that has seen and felt the attitude and quality of his music.

One of Ovidi’s latest projects has been the creation and scoring of soundtracks for movies that, besides being a great influence on his daily work, have lead him to collaborate – with four tracks and a small cameo – with the filmmaker Esteban Crespo in his movie Amar, that will be released this 2017.

With his proactive, enterprising, humble and fresh character Ovidi – and those who bet for him – will reach the highest marks in charts and dancefloors alike.
